About Beth
Beth Zier graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in education. She majored in Physical Education and minored in Coaching and Health. She taught in the Physical Education department at Tacoma Community College, in Tacoma, WA, in 1980 – 1981; after which she taught and coached at Oak Grove Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School in Fargo, North Dakota (where she had graduated in 1975); 1982 – 1984.
Beth has been married to her husband Mark, since September, 1985. They have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law and three young granddaughters. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, she felt God’s “call” to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling, with the specific desire for counseling women. She earned her Master’s degree through Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia in May 2007. In October of 2007 Beth began her private practice in Puyallup, Washington. She now provides counseling for women as a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo, Hawaii.
“My desire is to offer God’s hope to women as they face various life challenges: issues of self-image and self-worth; dealing with stress, anxiety, and feelings of sadness or loss; relationship concerns (i.e. marriage, family, friends, co-workers); difficulties experienced with normal developmental transitions in life (i.e. kids starting school, empty nest, etc.); experiences of life-threatening trauma (i.e. car accidents), or a diagnosis of life-threatening illnesses (i.e. breast cancer). Additionally, I provide encouragement and motivation for life enrichment.”
Challenging life experiences, such as being involved in a near-fatal car accident (1980) and being diagnosed with breast cancer (2002), and the life lessons learned as a result, have inspired Beth to pursue her counseling practice: Offering HOPE for the Journey, as well as her speaking ministry: Grace for the Journey. The lessons learned through her life challenges have demonstrated the truth of Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (NIV)
